FAQ

What is smart film?

Smart film is a switchable privacy film that turns glass from clear to frosted instantly using an electrical current. It offers modern privacy, UV protection, and energy efficiency in one solution.

How does smart film work?

Smart film uses PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) technology. When powered on, the film becomes transparent; when powered off, the liquid crystals scatter light, turning the glass opaque for privacy.

Why would I need this instead of curtains?

Smart film offers a modern, space-saving alternative to traditional curtains by providing instant privacy and light control with just a switch. It eliminates the need for bulky fabrics, reducing maintenance and creating a cleaner, more elegant look. Unlike curtains, smart film integrates seamlessly with glass, improving both functionality and aesthetics for homes and offices.

How long does smart film last?

With proper installation and care, smart film typically lasts 8–10 years or longer, depending on usage and environmental conditions.

Is smart film safe for use in residential & office use?

Absolutely. Smart film is low-voltage, energy-efficient, and safe for both homes and commercial environments. It also blocks up to 98% of UV rays and helps regulate indoor temperatures by reducing heat and glare from sunlight.

Does smart film consume a lot of electricity?

No. Smart film is extremely energy efficient. It uses very little power, even when left on continuously.

Can I still see outside when the film is frosted?

No. When frosted, the film becomes opaque, blocking visibility in both directions while still allowing light to pass through.

How do I clean smart film?

Smart film can be cleaned using a soft cloth and non-abrasive glass cleaner. Avoid using sharp tools or high-pressure water near the film edges.

What happens if there is a power outage?

During a power outage, the film defaults to its frosted (opaque) state for privacy.

Is smart film waterproof?

Smart film itself is moisture-resistant, meaning it can handle normal humidity and light cleaning. However, it is not fully waterproof and should not be exposed to direct water contact or installed where it may be constantly wet (such as inside showers or outdoor windows without proper sealing). For areas with higher moisture, we can recommend sealed edge installations to improve protection.
